New Music Updates
Open Clarinet Solo The Organising Committee is aware the piece chosen
for the Open Bb Clarinet solo was written to be played on both A and Bb instruments. Notwithstanding the provisions of Regulation 9.7, competitors may use the instrument as scored or play the whole piece on a Bb Clarinet without having to transpose.
Junior Trumpet The Organising Committee is aware that some publications
of the Junior Trumpet suggest C trumpet; however, competitors will be permitted only the Bb Trumpet.
Junior Concert C The Organising Committee recommend the humming parts
of the Junior Concert C Test piece be sung by members of the band.
Important Update The following information was just received, too late to be included in Newsletter No. 3, and is from the Convenor of the TBL Music Advisory Board:
Under 19 yrs Baritone Solo - due to the unavailability of a piano accompaniment the test piece solo for Junior Baritone is now as follows:
Fantasie Concertante, T. H. Hoch, pub. Molenaar
Open "B" Grade Concert Test music - Hal Leonard Music, as part of their sponsoring the Open "B" Grade Concert Band, have agreed to reduce the price of the test piece, "Dutch Masters" by Johan de Meij to $340 (Australian) - this offer is restricted to bands competing at the 2010 Championships.
Junior "C" Grade Brass Test music - Note that "St. Andrews Variations" by Alan Fernie is the 1999 version, NOT the later publication.
Newsletter No. 3 together with the entry forms and a sponsorship form have been sent by email or surface mail to all Australian and New Zealand bands. If your band does not receive them in the near future, it is because 1) Your state/national association does not have your contact details so neither do I; 2) Your email or surface mail address is incorrect (a number of emails have bounced). In either case, if you would like the newsletter and forms, please send me your contact details.
Best Regards,
Robert C. Kuns, Secretary/Administrator
